Me and my first book

An Approaching Anniversary!

As we enter the final days of April, I realize that it's been nearly a year since I received the magic e-mail stating, "your book is published!"  Yeah, May 8th will mark one year since Beyond the Ocean's Edge: A Stone Island Sea Story first became available.  I may have mentioned it before, but I was way more excited with regards to finally being a published author than I thought I'd be.  I remember that in the final days before the publication announcement, I felt quite a bit like a small child on Christmas Eve, eager to wake up and see what sort of gifts Santa had left.  When the news arrived, it was like that small child had gotten up early, sneaked down to look under the tree, and found that all he had asked for were there.

I've enjoyed the past year, getting used to having a published book on the market and participating in signings, readings, and other marketing events.  I find that I'm also learning more and more about the marketing side of things and my capacity to become involved in them.  I've even held a book giveaway contest, right here on Live Journal.  My plan now is to hold another giveaway to celebrate the first anniversary of the publication of Beyond the Ocean's Edge.  Next weekend I'll officially announce it and start accepting comments for entries.  I'll take entries through the 8th, and on the 9th, announce a winner.

If you have already purchased and read it, thank you!  I'd like to hear what you thought of it.  Reviews would be nice, perhaps on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.  I'm also posting reviews on my web-site.  Even a comment on an LJ post would be welcome.  Don't worry if you didn't like it or if you found some fault with the story.  I know I can't please everyone, and it is beneficial to know the weaknesses of my writing as well as its strengths.

So, about this time next week, look for the start of the giveaway contest.
